Material Weight Review For Procurement helps engineers, buyers, and workshop teams turn simple dimensions into a practical material weight estimate. A small density or wall-thickness error can change shipping cost, machining allowance, and raw material purchasing quantity.

For a steel tube, start with the selected material density, then check wall thickness before sharing the result. The calculator uses millimeter dimensions and returns weight in kilograms or pounds, which keeps the workflow simple for design review and supplier communication.

Practical calculation notes

For plates, multiply length, width, and thickness to get volume. For square or rectangular tubes, subtract the hollow inside area from the outside area before multiplying by tube length. For round tubes, subtract the inner circle area from the outer circle area.

Use custom density when the exact alloy, plastic grade, filler content, or supplier datasheet value is known. If the exact grade is unknown, treat the result as an estimate and keep a safety margin for procurement and logistics.
